My favourite AI blog has introduced me to Blaseball, an absurdist fan-simulator where weather effects include “flocks of birds”, and “black hole”.
I was entirely prepared to be making a post about how fitness/smart watches are terrible at measuring heart rate. However, we don’t do science to prove that we’re correct, but to become correct.
A friend mentioned that “Wensleydale” breaks down into “Wens” (Woden/Wednesday) “ley” (clearing) “dale” (field), or “Odin’s field in a woodland clearing”. Later, I remembered a lesson in school about elements of place names, and how the Danelaw was more likely to have Viking names than the South.
